Instill fear of law in minds of criminals: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister to police

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday issued a strong directive to state law enforcement, emphasising the importance of instilling fear of the law in criminals and ensuring swift justice for victims. He stressed that maintaining public trust in the police is crucial, and no citizen should face harassment.
Speaking at a police conference in Raipur, Sai highlighted the urgency of tackling key issues like cow smuggling and drug peddling, which citizens have raised as major concerns. He called for ethical policing, urging officers to prioritise building public confidence through prompt assistance and transparent actions.
The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of addressing crimes against women with urgency, directing that justice be delivered within a three-month timeframe.
The conference also discussed the rehabilitation of surrendered Maoists and improving governance at the district level. Sai announced that his statewide Jandarshan visits would now be held once a month, increasing pressure on district administrators to resolve issues locally and more effectively.
He further emphasised the critical role of the police and district administration as the “eyes and ears” of the government, shaping public perception. The Chief Minister called for a balanced approach where criminals fear the police, while vulnerable groups feel protected.
He assured that the state government would provide necessary resources and training to tackle modern challenges such as cybercrime.
